Priesterausbildungshilfe e. V. was founded in Cologne in 1991, inspired by the Synod of Bishops and the apostolic exhortation Pastores dabo vobis of Pope John Paul II. Ever since, we have worked with passion to support the next generation of priests in their vocation. We are convinced that a well-formed priesthood is decisive for the vitality of the Church and strengthens the faithful in their faith.
What we stand for
Our Church needs courageous shepherds who are ready to live the message of Christ with passion and dedication. Yet in many places the means for a solid formation are lacking. We support seminarians and priests through:
- Scholarships for the study of theology, so that future priests receive the best possible formation.
- Financial support for priests in further studies, so that they can prepare for leadership roles in their dioceses.
- Close cooperation with international seminaries and the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, to ensure a high-quality formation.
Where we help
Our help goes to seminarians and priests from all over the world who study at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome. They come above all from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe. Many come from regions where the financial support of their dioceses is not enough. This is where we step in with targeted scholarships.
